Tailoring FAQ
What is the general timeline for bridal?
BRIDAL TAILORING
Bridal alterations clients generally have 3-4 fittings total, usually 2-3 months before your wedding. For more extensive custom options, such as revamping a vintage wedding dress, this may be 3-5 fittings over a period of 4-6 months. Your last fitting will be about 2 weeks before your wedding.
I like to tailor bridal close to your wedding date so it fits you perfectly on your special day. Your specific timeline will be discussed at your complimentary consultation.
CUSTOM BRIDAL GOWNS
Currently I design and sew custom bridal gowns over 6 months, with 4-5 consultations or fittings total. I’ll start with a complimentary consultation that includes sketching your unique bridal vision and taking measurements. Once that sketch is approved and a deposit is paid, I’ll drape your unique gown to your measurements alone, in the fabric selected. If any bridal alterations are needed for your gown or bridal look, they are included in the original price of the gown, and are not an additional charge.
CUSTOM BRIDAL ACCESSORIES
I design custom veils, bridal capes, sleeves and gloves, generally in 2-3 fittings over a period of 2-3 months. Many of my custom bridal accessories clients are also tailoring clients, and accessories fittings are a done during their bridal fittings.
what sets you apart?
Clients have asked me to tailor incredibly technical gowns, including some that have been turned down by other tailors or had been altered incorrectly by a former specialist. I even have experience resizing gowns that are 2-3 sizes too large.
I specialize in revamping vintage gowns into modern bridal looks and accessories. Training in London taught me how to think conceptually. I work closely with my clients to ensure their bridal looks are unique to only them, their specific vision and venue.
Before becoming a bridal tailor, I was a patternmaker for over seven years. As a patternmaker, I have a proven track record of creating high-end apparel patterns that are technically difficult & require a high amount of attention to detail, consistently delivering patterns and samples with a high level of accuracy.
